Check It at Filmfest DC

The documentary Check It, that tells the story of LGBT youth in the Trinidad neighborhood who band together to form a gay gang for self-defense, is playing at the E Street Cinema as part of Filmfest DC. The website was telling me earlier they were sold out, but they now appear to have tickets available. Unfortunately, you are out of luck if you want to score a ticket, as they appear to have sold out of single tickets to both showings. Hopefully we'll have additional opportunities to catch this one soon, but until then You can also watch the trailer.

DC Metro Girls Pint Out Scouts Honor Beer & Cookie Pairing

Tickets are on sale now for the third annual DC Metro Girls Pint Out Scouts Honor Beer & Cookie Pairing at Little Miss Whiskey's (1104 H St.) Thursday, April 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will take place on the second floor. The $15 tickets are only available online, and there are only 75 of them. A ticket gets you admission, samples of the six beers they are tasting, and cookies. Here's the menu (3-4 ounce pours of each beer).

DC Brau Imperial Pils Craft Brewers Conference collab with Melvin Brewing with oatmeal / peanut butter sandwich cookie

Historic Preservation 101/201

The DC Preservation League is holding two upcoming classes on historic preservation at Gallaudet University (800 Florida Ave). The courses, which appear to be geared towards real estate professionals, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, May 19 at the Kellogg Conference Center.

Historic Preservation 101 provides a brief history of Washington’s historic preservation movement, advice on navigating permitting for buildings in historic districts, and tips on historic preservation funding.

Historic Preservation 201 delves deeper into subjects such as the process of designating historic landmarks and districts, renovation of historic properties, the historic preservation review process, and integration of historic resources with new construction.

The three-hour programs costs $60. The classes are free (and offers Continuing Education Credit) to DC Real Estate Licensees and DC Real Estate Appraiser Licensees with active license statuses. ANC Commissioners can also attend for no charge. Please note that you can sign up for either 101, or 201, but NOT both.

Its time to get the Frozen Tropics hype up for our Chick-Fil-A opening on Maryland AVE NE on MAY 18th. The first hundred customers every day for the first year its open gets a free chicken sandwich and waffle fries. That is 36,500 free meals for our community!

11:51,

I'm reading the information for the Chick-fil-A First 100 Road Trip promotion a bit differently. I think only those who are part of the First 100 bus ride get any free meals, and I believe they can get one meal a week for a year (a grand total of 520 possible free meals).
