Arboretum Hosting International Tree Climbing Championship & Arbor Fair

A promo video for the 2015 Championship

The National Arboretum will host this year's International Tree Climbing Championship in the coming days. The Championship, along with its Arbor Fair and Expo, is organized by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and will take place on the following dates:

July 28, 12 pm–4 pm
July 29,  8 am–4 pm
July 30,  9 am–2:30 pm

More than 60 male and female professional climbers representing 13 countries will compete. The competition has been held at various sites in past years, and it's exciting to have it right here in the District. Attendance is free, and the celebration will include bonsai workshops, tree and plant identification walks, live music, activities such as the Limb Walk and Fun Climb, wildlife rescue educational displays, and more. Geared towards both children and adults, it sounds like some great family-friendly fun.
